Fort Macon
(above) aerial view of the fort...this fort is shaped like a pentagon all built underground. Driving up to the fort (the U shape drive) we couldn't see anything, just feild and trees. The white part that you see are the outside walls (about 20 feet or more) of the fort and then there's a larger pentagon shape surrounding the fort
entrance of Fort Macon

all the rooms are like this one and some had fireplaces and others had wondows (of course all the floors were re-done)

Fort Macon was originally used for the Civil War but was re-used during the Mexican-American War and World War II

...Atlantic Beach...

After we left Fort Macon, we drove up the highway to Atlantic Beach for a walk!
The kids enjoyed the water and sea shell picking!
We couldn't swim due to strong undertoe (current)...the undertoe has caused 10 death since the start of the summer just on the Carolina coast alone.
The kids got wet up to their waists and Abbygale decided to sit in the water!
We spent an hour and 30 minutes walking and sea shell picking...it was beautiful! It was the perfect weekend to go do something like this, it was in the mid 80's this weekend.
