Foods rich in Vitamin D:
Salmon
Mackerel
Tuna fish
Sardines
Margarine
Ready-to-eat-cereal, fortified with 10% of the daily value for D
Eggs
Liver
Swiss Cheese
OR Vitamin D supplements
The best way to absorb D is through sunlight. Unfortunately, there is no way to expose skin to sunlight without also exposing it to UV radiation that can burn and/or injure skin. The National Indtitute of Health suggests 5 to 30 minutes of sun exposure between 10am and 3pm at least twice a week to the face, arms, legs or back without sunscreen for lighter skinned individuals; darker skinned individuals need more exposure.
